World Of Warcraft Concept Art

I thought that I was finished.
But then my teacher told me some cool techniques so I could improve the art.

My teacher and I did some research for flames.
And specially for reflactions from fire.
And he said that if I want to really make it cool I should add more contrast to the picture.

So I did all that stuff and I added some highlights to the art.
Also I added glow effects and more flames.

I think it's really finished now and I hope you like it.

World of Warcraft Concept Art

Today I've finished my concept art World of Warcraft Style.

Where my previous post stops is where I will now continue.
I decided I wanted a more Fire elemental creature.
Because it lives in RageFireChasm.
(For the people who don't know what RageFireChasm is: Rage Fire Chasm)

I started brushing in cracks in his texture and making flames on his stomach.
Through the cracks people can see it's molten core.
I think this is a very cool effect.

I asked my Concept Art teacher what I could add because I thought it was a bit lame.
He said I had to put more detailing shadow in the face so it would look more realistic.
So I did that and now I'm pretty proud on my work.

Here is the finished result.

Role Playing Game Warcraft Engine

In the beginning of this period we get the assignment to make a RPG in the Warcraft Editor.
I thought it was easy hehe.
Well it's clear now, IT WASN'T.

We had to start with an leveldocument.
In the leveldocument we write our plans for the RPG.
Things like: Storyline, Floorplan etc.

After that we started building a greybox in the Warcraft editor.
A greybox is a empty level, no decoration or so.
In this greybox we put all our scripts, so we can see if everything works before we are going to build the complete level.

I started making a camera-script, the camera is always behind the players character.
And if the character rotates, the camera rotates too.

Then I started to make quests, damn this was a very hard challenge for my but after a while I started understanding it.

It still doesn't work that good.

Next time I hope I can tell you how I finished my RPG, or at least fixed the quests-problem.

11 Second Club Animation

I was doing homework in our Gamedesign class and a thirth grader was also in our classroom.
I know his specialisation is 3D animation, the same what I want to do.

I asked him if he liked my one hour animation challenge and if he had any tips for me.
He said I needed to participate in the 11 Second Club Animation Contest.

I didn't knew what it was so I started "googling".

The challenge is that every participant gets an audiofile of a conversation and they have to make an animation from that source.
Every type of animation is possible, but it is forbidden to change the sound file.

I downloaded a free rig from their site and started animating.
After 3 hours I only had 2 sentences animated, it's just really hard to move the mouth realistic.

Next time I hope I can tell you how I finished this animation.

World of Warcraft Concept Art

This period we've had to make concept art.
The teacher said we had to choose between Assassin's, Pirates or World of Warcraft characters.
I chose World of Warcraft.

I started with researching for World of Warcraft concept art.
And then I made a background story for my character.

Now I looked on the internet for good thumbnails.
I've found one and started Photoshopping.
Because I had to use the World of Warcraft style I wanted to make it look more like a painting instead of photorealistic.

Because my monster has fire and stone elements I started looking for stone textures.
When I found one I started brushing the face.
Then a part of the body and sword.

I hope that in my next blog I can tell you how I finished my work.

My First Person Shooter

Last holiday I started a little project for myself instead for school.
I was playing Call of Duty Mordern Warfare 2 and realized it isn't that hard to make a FPS in Unity 3D.
I was wrong about thinking it was just easy to do.
Starting with the controls, I added a First Person Controller, with a Mouse-Looking-Script.
After that I modeled a gun but it didn't look as nice as I expected so I downloaded a temporary one.

With a few problems I made it shoot when the left mouse button is pressed, then it was pretty hard to find out how to make the gun automatic.
With the help of Unity answers it finally worked.
After that I added sound to the gunshot and flames out the barrel of the gun.

Than I started to work on the enemy.
First I modeled it in Autodesk Maya and after that I started to animate it.
I put it in Unity and started working on the Artificial Intelligence.

Artificial Intelligence is one of the hardest things I've done in scripting.
The five enemies all have waypoints and so their own unique path through the level.
I made it so that if the player comes near the enemy, the enemy starts to follow the player till it's out of range.

After that I started working on the level.
I thought it was pretty cool to take a dumpster as theme.
But that wasn't looking well so I took alot of shipmentcontainers and placed them through the whole level like a maze.

This looked pretty cool with the cartoon shader.
Here below is a screenshot of how it looks now.

For the next time I hope I can tell you about how I made that the enemies shoot back at me and if I hit them that they take damage and after that they die.
